Istanbul Gelişim University is a private non-profit university in Istanbul, Turkey. Gelişim Education, Culture, Health, and Social Service Foundation took steps in the direction of establishing a vocational school under the name of "Istanbul Gelişim Vocational School" in 2008. In 2008, the Gelişim Education, Culture, Health, and Social Services Foundation, which initiated the establishment of a vocational school named "Istanbul Gelişim Vocational School," began its educational life with the Vocational School established by the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Ministers on June 14, 2008. IGU, which advocates that higher education is the most important tool for sustainable development, today offers education and training opportunities to national and international students through 7 faculties, 1 college, 2 vocational schools, 85 undergraduate programs, 68 associate degree programs, 33 associate degree programs, 41 thesis/non-thesis graduate programs within the Graduate Education Institute, and 39 non-thesis graduate programs and 11 doctoral programs. Istanbul Gelişim University, in collaboration with over 130 universities worldwide, also motivates its associate, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students to pursue international studies. Istanbul Gelişim University was established in accordance with Law No. 6114, dated February 17, 2011, for the 2025-2026 academic year, with seven faculties, a Graduate School, one college, and two vocational schools, aiming to become a "global university." Growing each year with the firm steps taken to become a leading university globally, Istanbul Gelişim University is one of the most preferred foundation universities in Turkey. Istanbul Gelişim University, which collaborates with leading institutions in its field to achieve global success and places great emphasis on internationalization, has a total of 40 programs comprehensively reviewed and accredited by international committees appointed by German, British, and American accreditation bodies such as AQAS, AHPGS, and ABET. Having achieved the success of being the university with the most accredited programs in Turkey, Istanbul Gelişim University has also attracted worldwide attention with its steps toward internationalization. Located in Istanbul, the financial and commercial center of Türkiye and the world, Istanbul Gelişim University offers a massive research complex consisting of 150 laboratories to its students on campus. It also boasts 22 research centers and 76 student clubs that provide opportunities for students to participate in social, cultural, scientific, and athletic activities outside of class.
