Koç University

Koç University is a non-profit foundation university. It began its educational activities in 1993 at its temporary campus in İstinye, and moved to its permanent campus in Rumeli Feneri in 2000. Since its establishment in 1969, the Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV), which has been actively involved in education, health, and culture – the most fundamental necessities of life – has embarked on a project to realize the late Vehbi Koç's dream of establishing a university, following significant investments such as the Sadberk Hanım Museum, the Atatürk Library, and the Koç Private High School. Vehbi Koç, with his words, "Capital can be found, machinery can be purchased, technology can be transferred; but if there is no well-trained workforce, it is difficult to achieve results…", demonstrated the importance he placed on the upbringing of educated young people. For these reasons, Koç University, under the umbrella of a "Center of Excellence," aims to provide all its students with a general culture curriculum, allocate a significant portion of its resources to education and scientific research and development, and cultivate young people with leadership qualities and problem-solving skills, all to ensure a 'qualified expert-qualified human' integration. As Vehbi Koç stated in his first lecture at Koç University on October 4, 1993, “The aim of Koç University is to ensure that extraordinary young people are well-educated. When we have a sufficient number of them and they reach the leadership positions they deserve, the future of our country will be secured… The more high-quality people we can educate, the more we will have served our country…” In the twenty years since its opening, Koç University has become one of the most prestigious universities in Türkiye. Today, with its Faculties of Humanities and Literature, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Science, Engineering, Law, Medicine, and Nursing, Koç University serves education with 22 undergraduate, 43 master's, and 30 doctoral programs, contributing to the advancement of science in Türkiye and the world.
